When I look in 'Control Panel'-'Network and Internet Connections' -'Network Connections' there are 3 headings:-
(i) Broadband.Under this is:-
BT Broadband
Connecting
WAN Miniport PPPOE
(ii)Dail Up.Under this is:-
BT
Connected
BT Voyager 105 ADSL Modem
(iii)
LAN or High SpeedInternet. Under this is
Local Area Connection
Network Cable Unplugged
VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter.
What do these mean and how do I use them (if at all) when I need to set a new e-mail/internet connection, should this ever arise?

Those are all the normal icons/details for your broadband connection. LAN would come into use if you were to set-up a small home network - i.e. connecting a laptop and printer wirelessly. You do not need to do anything, just leave them as they are.

Not necessarily - I have a LAN setup for my lone wired modem router and computer system.

Please ensure you type a meaningful title for your query - "What do these mean and what" etc does not tell us anything about your prob. Thanks David
