what do I need to xfr files from old pc to a new?

I have an old pc with 2 hd's and a new pc with 2 hd's. Not side by side. I want to transfer a lot but not all of the files from the old 2nd hd to the new 2nd hd eg music, word, adobe, zipped, drivers etc. So I want to be able to pick and choose.

What is the easiest solution?

Simplest (to me) would be to make a new folder somewhere on the old computer.
Copy the all the data files you want into this folder.

Then (depending on your facilities) either copy to a pen drive, or burn one or more CDs from the special folder.

I expect you know already, but major applications will not transfer this way.
Only data files from the applications, downloaded files, zipped and .exe files which can be run in the new computer

If both PCs have network (lan) cards then connect with a crossover cable.

You an get a USB transfer data cable to do the same thing but a PEN drive is more flexible.
