What cpu for this motherboard

  kartesian 22:37 24 Jan 11

I have just purchased a SUPERB 4LE-6AL motherboard; the processor socket is socket 478, Chipset Type SiS651, Max Bus Speed 533 MHz.

The motherboard will accept P4 processors up to 2.6GHz.

Will the motherboard accept any socket 478 cpu within range or should I bear anything else in mind before I purchase?

looking at reviews provided you dont go above 2.66mhz it will accept a socket 478 pentium or a celeron. These are quite old processors in modern terms

could i ask what you intend to use the machine for?

Thanks for your reply.

Yeh, firstly it's a 'project'. I've not built a pc before so I'm having a go with cheap 2nd hand components.

If all goes well I'll use it as a Linux box or as a home server, neither of which I think will require knockout kit.

thanks again.
