my isp today advised that my present adsl 128 kbs £20/month is to be disconnected next week and replaced with a £35/month 1 Meg. As an impoverished pensioner finding 128 k quite fast enough I am now looking to find someone else for the same fee with low setup/equipment cost. So far it looks like NTL cable at £14.99 is the cheapest. Does anyone know any better deal?

I'd go with NTL, i've got their 600K and its superb. The way you've gotta look at it is BT charge £15.99 for a 56K dial-up.
