What are "Serious Error" messages?

I have been experiencing my PC "Serious Error" messages (Mesh Matrix XP3000+) I am sure it is caused by my DVD-RW drive.
But I am not sure if it is a driver problem or hardware problem.
I would rather not have to send my PC back to Mesh, only as a last resort (god knows if I will ever see it again).
What do other Forum members advise me to do?
Your advice would be very much appreciated

Regards Rogmur

can you post a copy (exact) of the error message and when it happens. A serious error is normally one that will affect the operation of the computer or the operating system.

Or take a note of the "serious error" and key the details into google.co.uk - it should bring up a range of solutions or a direct Microsoft link if it's Windows based.
