Is this an academic question or are you experiencing problems and are just guessing at the processor being the culprit? If the latter, post the symptoms and we'll try & help.

Ok then, so it can't be that that's causing my problems.
My PC is producing very erratic behaviour. Running very slowly when I open more than one window at a time. Freezing, Sticky cursor, but these things don't happen all the time. I can run programmes, play music, look at pictures anytime. Then I open a couple of windows that contain virtually nothing and they'll freeze, for a moment or two and then it's ok again?

Have you tried System Restore to before the Problem?

Possibly too many background programs running!
How many proceses are running in Task Manager?

Have you performed regular Windows maintenance recently? I.E cleaned up temporary files & used a registry cleaner, scanned for malware & checked if hard drive needs defrag?

could be overheating due to fans blocked with dust.
Time for side off and paintbrush to clean the dust out maybe.

dont rule out the psu as blips in voltage can cause all sorts of problems. more so if it's a cheap psu that came with the pc.
