I've got a PC with windows Me and it has a AMD 64 processor. What does teh "642 part mean?

I take it that you meanwhat the 64 part mean and that 642 was a typo. The 64 means it is a 64 bit chip as opposed to being a 32 bit chip.

Does that do anything for me? I use Win Me which I think is a 32bit operating system? I also use Ubuntu which is a Linux distro and i think I downloaded a 64bit version of that. You probably gather I am not quite sure what I am talking about but am interested, and cannot type.

Do you mean AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core cpu?

basically it's better for multi-tasking. You can be using one side of the cpu for one task and the other side for other tasks. It's a bit like having two seperate cpu's in your motherboard.
