what is 128 bit memory?

i am using 168 pin sdram dimm memory
my motherboard says it supports maximum
memory size 256mb 64 bit or 512mb 128 bit
modules. what is 128 bit memory. i need to
install more memory as my 2 slots now
have 128mb in each. any help please.

As far as I am aware it's a memory bus term used mainly for graphics cards.
