WG511 Netgear causing Toshiba Laptop to Shut Down

I've recently installed a Netgear DG834G Modem/router and a WG511 adapter on my P10 804 Toshiba Satellite Laptop (XP home SP2). Set up was no problem, connected first time, homever occassionally the laptop shuts down, no errors or warnings just shuts down. I then have to wait 5 to 10 minutes before it will reboot. This has happened twice in a week. Also the laptop will occassionally freeze and needs to be rebooted (occured three times in a week). Before opting for Netgear I tried a Belkin modem router and card adapter this caused the computer to shut down after an hour, the Netgear card is far better but I'd like to know what is causing my problem.
