I have an old computer bought from a company which is now gone. The company has put in a welcome screen which comes on as soon as the computer logs on giving the name of the company and below which saying press tab or del key etc. Even though I have changed my harddrive but not my display unit it still appears. How can I get rid of it please.

You may find its embedded somewhere in the bios and cannot be removed.

Thank you Rayuk. Well I suppose I will just have to live with it.

itr may be embedded your bios but that does not mean you cannot turn it off.
take a look and there may be an entry you can turn off. it sometimes can be found in with the fsb settings.
the dfi mobo has 2, one in the post screen and one to replace the post screen, both of which are able to be turned off

Do a Google
"Remove splash screen from a ?????? pc"
see if anything comes up.

C:\Documents and Settings\Dennis\My Documents\System Help\TweakXP_com - Change your Welcome (login) Screen.htm you can also do it by getting Tuneup Utilities 30 Day trial which does it for you at the click of a button.
