Webcam + MSN Messenger + Windows XP = Problem!

  rabbitrabbit 11:27 19 Dec 03

basically i cannot use my webcam through msn messenger. i have the latest msn version. and my webcam works fine usually through it's own "webcam control" program, or through NetMeet. but if i try to start a webcam through msn, the recipient only gets a black screen. XP problem perhaps? maybe i should buy an XP compatible webcam? or is there an easy way around. thanx.

i use xp and messenger with no probs i would suggest you look at your configuration re cam in messenger options/properties, check firewall settings also, failing that use yahoo messenger it's not so finniky.

Agree with jonneyrocker - use Yahoo messenger. I have tried to get msn messenger to work but no luck - even with firewall off. Yahoo works great - if both sides are on Broadband the quality of the video is pretty good
