Webcam help please

  ventanas 10:09 22 Nov 10

Have got two Acer machines: Z5710 desktop and 5551-A laptop. Both have a webcam.
I cannot see any way to turn these on on either machine. nothing in the Start menu on either.
My other laptop, and my netbook, have a toolbar that appears when the mouse is moved to the top of screen.
Please does anyone have any ideas, or is it possible that they will only work within a supported program, such as Skype or MSN.
Grateful for any help.

Have a look to see if you have a program Acer Crystal Eye.

Have a look in Device Manger to see if anything listed under "Imaging Devices" - any yellow exclamation marks

Thanks Woolwell. There doesn't seem to be any listed program, but will dig deeper.

There is nothing in DM, or in Control Panel\Devices.

Will keep looking. May not be installed - strange on both machines though.
May have to get in touch with Acer.
