Web Browser adverts opening new tab

I'm running Windows 7 with Google Chrome as my default browser.

Extra tabs keep opening with adverts eg Ladbrokes etc.

I've run malware bytes, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, and my antivirus ESET NOD32 hasn't picked anything up.

I haven't made any changes anywhere

How can I stop this happening?

Thanx

Dick, AdwCleaner is an effective removal tool for pests like yours. You can get it from here.

Note that it can sometimes be a tad aggressive so you may want to check what it's found and untick anything that you want to keep before clicking the "Clean" button.

I had the exact same thing happening on firefox. Tried all the anti malware programs, which didn't remove it.

It was an 'add-on' called 'hdplugin final' that was causing the problem. As soon as I disabled the plug-in, the extra tabs with Ladbrokes stopped opening. So check your plug-ins or extensions and see if there's something in there that might be causing it.
