Want to change my CPU fan - can I change size?

I have a PC with an AMD Athlon XP (Barton) CPU fitted to an MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR (MS-6570G) motherboard.

The fan attached to the top of the CPU is making a hell of a noise, and so I need to replace it but I need some advice please !

The current fan and heatsink is an Akasa AK-795, 60mm x 60mm fan size - can I go for a larger fan, would this be beneficial and would it fit the motherboard? never replaced a component like this before so I'm really in the dark.

Finally, any suggestions for a great replacement - low noise is my prime need !

Many thanks

Hi,

if you buy a heatsink and fan designed for your processor type you should have no problems unless you go for one of these massive over sized afairs, but to be on the safe side measure the clearance between your processor and things like the power supply and any cards near by as obviously all cases are slightly different regarding internal space, hope this is of some help.
