I have a Dell Inspirion 8100 laptop and the mouse has started'wandering' and is uncontrolable. Has anyone any ideas how I can stop it and take control again. The trackpoint and mouse are uncontrolable.

I had a similar fault on one of my laptops a few years ago, but it only showed up after about 15 mins. Tried everything and failed, I think it was some component warming up associated with the mouse circuitry up and losing control. I'll be interested if any of the "brains" of this forum can shed some light ?
