W98SE Printer Sharing and Security

I recently set up a peer to peer network between my W98SE desktop and XP Pro laptop to share files and printers. Having read about the security holes in W98 printer and file sharing I'm now worried about opening up a can of worms.

Does anyone know if using a firewall like Zone Alarm will plug some of those security holes. I've set Zone Alarm up to block network traffic between my computers, and when the firewall is up and running I can't see the printers or share files. Do you think that this is enough in terms of security? Will this prevent poeple gaining access - read only access to parts of my Windows directory?
