W98 to W xp: printer problems

Since moving from W98 SE to W xp (service pack 2)and downloading the Epson printer driver for my Stylus color 600 I can on longer print at 1440 dpi but only at 720 dpi. Epson say that is because I am using the generic driver and that they have no plans for anything that will correctly tie up the stylus 600 to W xp. Disappointing for such a good printer. Does anyone know of a way around this?

I had exactly the same problem when I changed from W98 to Windows 2000.
Like you Epson stated that theey had no intention of developing an Epson 600 driver for W2k.
After much rumaging around American sites I found the information that the Epson 640 driver for W2k worked with the Epson 600 printer.
I installed this driver some 3 years ago and it has worked perfectly with the Epson 600. I regularly use the 1440dpi print facility.
I see no reason why this driver will not work with XP
