My computer was acting funny so I decieded to do
an online virus check at symantec.com

The rusults are I have one file infected as follows...

C:\WINDOWS\system32\TFTP840 is infected with W32.Blaster.Worm

I downloaded and ran the removal tool that is suppose to get rid of the virus but when I ran the online virus checker again it still said the above file is still infected.

Has anyone else had this problem?
How do I fix it and get rid of it?

There are some previous threads that advocate downloading stinger, etc.

If you search the forum you should be able to sort it out ok.

Best of luck

If your running XP the virus might still be in the system restore files which can't be accessed by a AV prog, you need to disable System restore, (On XP right click My Computer, select Properties then System Restore tab & turn it off) Then run the removal tool, reboot and re-enable system restore. As mentioned above you also need to go into Windows Update & install all critical updates. Also at the very least enable Windows Firewall (In start then right hand pane right click your internet conection - connect to, then /properties/adavanced/enable firewall) on XP or a third party free one, check the recent posting for free firewalls etc.
