I've never used VOIP, but I have a customer who want's to covertly listen to staff from a remote location (she thinks they're a bit dodgy).

Now she has internet access at the shop, but no PC, just a CCTV DVR attached to a router. I was wondering if she could attach a Skype style standalone VOIP phone to the router, could she dial into that phone and have it auto answer so she could listen in to the phone? I know this is a little bit dodgy, but she has a legitimate reason why she wants to listen to the staff.

Probably a little bit illegal I would think, she could find herself in hot-water! Wot abaut me 'uman rites guv!! Unless she informed the staff that she was listening in - then that of course would defeat the object.

If she has a legitimate reason for thinking them 'dodgy' can she not voice her concerns to the Police, and ask their advice! Even if the constabulary will do nothing about it, they might advise her what is best.
