Vnc or other connecting tools

Looking for some advice please - We are getting the mother-in-law a laptop for Xmas...Unfortuantly she is lives in NI and we are in Scotland and as she isnt computer literate I am going to need to be able to access the PC to give help etc.

What is the best way to do this - Would it be best to have her connected to the web and use something like VNC or Pcanywhere to connect...if so how do I go about this?

Pcanywhere click here is one that I use a lot and it is very easy to set up. I also use Timbuktu click here but PCAnywhere is a lot cheaper.

You can use tools readily available and easy to use such as remote desktop connection, initiated through MSN messeneger or 'Windows Live Messenger'. You can then (with your mum's permission) take control of her PC and show her how to complete tasks or do them for her, all whilst keeping a running dialogue going in the left of the screen.
