VLC Media Player & Power Options

After watching a *.mpeg file using VLC Media Player, it seems to have over-ridden my Windows XP power settings (currently set to only turn off the monitor after 5 minutes).

Now, my laptop's monitor switched off after approx. 1 minute, locking my computer.

I can't see any preferences to change in VLC. Has anyone got any ideas?

i doubt its overidden power settings,it could be the driver is corrupted or codec conflict.
try uninstalling see if this corrects the problem, then try a reinstall of vlc and again retry

How bizarre! Seems to have affected my screensaver settings and set it to 1min to turn off, with password prompt.

Thanks for the help anyhow.
