Vista64 system32/ntdll.dll error

Hi guys

I installed iTunes 9.0 yesterday and now my PC does not want to boot due to system32/ntdll.dll error coming up.

I cant boot into safe mode, if I insert the Vista64 disc it hangs on a BSD stating system32/ntdll.dll error so basically I am stuck, not even being able to get the command prompt so I can reformat and start again.

I have googled the errror code but cant follow any instruction as I cant get the darn thing to boot.

So.......... whats my options apart from a new HDD [which wouldnt be a bad thing] and start again.

As always, thanks in advance and enjoy the sunshine

One thing you might try is loading the recovery console and from there rename the existing file.

ren c:\windows\system32\ntdll.dll ntdll.bad

and run chkdsk /r on the drive while you are there.

If you cannot get into recovery console how about running a live linux cd and removing replacing the offending file that way

Thanks FB

I will try the Linux CD. After googling it, it looks interesting, worth a try anyway,

If you use Linux you will need to mount your NFTS partition as read write. This will help click here
