My son has a new HP laptop and wants to transfer information files from his PC which is running XP Pro. He puts the info on a Vista ready dongle but cannot read it on his lap top. Any suggestions please

It could be that the - usbstor.inf - file is corrupted or missing in the Vista system.

Do a check for this file by looking in - C:\windows\inf - directory.

Download a replacement from click here , replace the existing file if it is there or put the downloaded file in the directory if it is not , reboot and see if your usb drives are recognised.
