Hello everyone ,I have just bought a Canon pixma IP2600 and can not get it to work .
"Printer is detected please wait until installation is completed ".
So I do and then it says "printer is not detected"
I am running vista and using the disc with drivers on it etc.....

Any ideas please ????

Does it show in Device Manager under Disc Drives when it is turned on?

No can not see it

did the machine go thru detected new hardware wizard at all? Or have u tried to 'add printer'. Sounds as if this isn't installed at all. If you go thru the wizard, it should, at some point, prompt u for the disks, unless the printer driver is already part of vista. Have u searched for your printer in the vista drivers? Post bk when ur done.

It went via wizard setup and and disk and I have found drivers etc... but it says in the add printer its there and working but when trying to print it wont .

if the wizard was completed correctly, I think at some point it should have offered you 'print test page'. How is this printer connected? LPT1 or USB? If the latter, it might be the case that u need to install usb drivers?

so what was the solution?

As Marko797 says, so what was the solution?
What actually solved the problem?

sorry , the solution was to re-install and found a usb driver on the net .
