I have a laptop and desktop both running Vista Ultimate with 4GB ram. Back in April/May time, my laptop was updated with Vista SP1 via the Windows Update and I expected the Windows Update would have done the same to my desktop. However, until now, I still have not offered the Vista SP1 from Windows Update. Any of you have similar problem to mine? Should i update the full version available on the Microsoft website, notwithstanding i have downloaded loads of updates in between?

I read somewhere that the update checks for compatible drivers installed on your machine for SP1 and if all your drivers aren't compatible then it won't be offered. I can't remember now where I read it, but it might be worth checking to make sure all your drivers are up to date.

Microsoft has admitted that some users may not get Vista SP1 offered to them through Windows Update.
