Vista search has defaulted to Google desktop

I have used Google desktop search for a long time to search in my documents. I also use the search facility in the Vista start menu to find files not indexed by Google, e.g. program files. If you enter a search term in the box and press enter, it should open an Windows Explorer window with the search results.

I recently installed an update to Google Desktop, when maybe I selected a wrong preference. Now when I press enter in the Vista search box, I go straight to Google Desktop, which does not index the files I am trying to find.

How do I change back to the original settings which opened the Windows Explorer window?

Do a system restore to a date before you upgraded.

System restore has never worked for me since I got my Vista PC. There must be a setting somewhere I can change.
