Vista problems

Further to my previous postings, my daughter has bought a new computer which is preinstalled with Vista, they were unable to connect to the internet, Virgin Media, with the Speed Touch modem dispite installing the download from their site, Virgin said that they needed a Router, several were tried with no result so one was bought through Virgin Media, this still will not connect. Virgin are now saying that a firewall is causin ther problem but the only one on is the Windows one which is supposedly switched off.

Any suggestions or shall we revert back to XP?? cheesed off now.

apparently this was down to one of the Nortons preinstalled programs, not sure which one, but now connected.

your best bet is to format the pc, and put xp on it. Vista will no doubt be the best thing since sliced bread when its actually finished but this early on, it will cause you more problems than its worth.
So far I have had 12 people bring laptops to me with vista preinstalled that had 1 problem or another, since xp was put on it, no problems.
Windows xp was the same when that first came out, nothing would work properly.
