Vista Only 'Sees' 3GB RAM

  kinger 19:01 05 Jul 07

My laptop computer, running Windows Vista Ultimate has 4GB RAM installed but vista only reports that it has 3GB.

Does anyone know where the other 1GB of RAM has gone?

Running another OS system on another partition, correctly states that the full 4GB RAM is installed.

Has Vista got some kind of limitation?

If you only put in 3GB of ram, doesn't it mess up you dual channel ram configuration...?

Yes it certainly does.

there are a number of rules to comply with.

1. Don't use PAE it doesn't use your RAM efficiently.

2. Always use matched pairs of RAM if you don't DDR dual chanel will be disabled.

3. If you bought 4GB RAM install it all not just 3GB.

Remember matched pairs!!!
