Vista and Office 2000

  Peter1933 19:09 20 Aug 08

Am experiencing problems getting Office 2000 to work with Vista, have solved Outlook Addresses by installing wab32.dll and wab32res.dll files into C/Windows/System32.

However if I try to access the Address Book from Word (either directly or through Envelopes and Labels) Word stops working (crashes ?)

Does anyone have the answer to this.

I was under the impression that versions of Office prior to 2003 were NOT compatible with Vista.

I have Office 2000 running quite happily with Vista! No hint of a glitch when I installed it a month ago.

Hi Jak

My problem is the inability of Word or any other program being able to access the address details in Outlook Contacts.

I am looking into the possibility of buying Outlook 2003 which I understand is compatible with Vista.

fairly definative, however it does not mention Office 2000 unfortunately. I do not use Outlook, previously used Outlook express, now windows mail in Vista.

I recently posted the same thing, Office 200 is a pain for vista. I switched to office 2003 and am running it no problem on the vista laptop and 2 xp machines....right up until I downloaded and update on Friday and Outlook has been a pain ever since.

I wouldn't spend too much time with Office 2000, get 2003,pu on the latest SP for it and the converter for previous version, then disable auto update.
