Hi, just got a new Dell Inspiron 1525 (with Vista) and have been busy installing apps and windows updates.

Since installing Vista Service Pack 1 (not sure if this is a coincidence) The computer does not power off. It simply restarts.

Any ideas?

Try removing it from Add Remove Programs in Control Panel

Thanks but isn't it wise to install a major service pack release?

Try it without you then know if its that. You can then try the update after again

OK, I'll give it a go. Thanks

I also recently installed Vista SP1 on a brand new Inspiron 1525 and, luckily, it was painless.

However, like you, having installed new applications (and uninstalled all the usual dross which comes with a new laptop) I first ran CCleaner and defragged the HDD before installing SP1
