VISTA / HP 5L non compliance issue

I've connected my HP 5L printer to my laptop [Toshiba Equium] via a dedicated cable; the software was installed from a Vista file but the printer doesn't work - an error message appears.

Any suggestions?

Can you tell us what the error message says?

Agree with anskber, more in info please.

Did you load the drivers/software before connecting the printer.

I have this printer (works well)and use the HP 6L driver from the XP software drivers installed. The HP 5L driver gives me problems. Check for this driver on your vista installation. If it is there you should be OK. David

Yes, the software was installed before connecting the printer.

The error message apears in the print list 'Error printing'

Deleting the printer and then re-installing with the printer connected sorted the problem.
