Vista Folder Share Access on XP Laptop

  diaz 19:31 10 Jan 08

I have Vista Ultimate on my PC and XP Pro SP2 on my laptop.

In Network and Sharing on the Vista PC I have Network Discovery, File Sharing and Public Folder Sharing all on.

I have shared four of my drives and can see them in My Network Places on my XP PC. However if I try to access them I get:

"you may not have permission to use this network resource"

I have looked in the permissions subsection of the share on Vista, and it is set to Everyone.

Can anyone help as I'm pulling my hair out here.

By the way I can access XP shared folders on my Vista PC!!!!

Also, I've just noticed that if I share a folder that is not a root drive and activate the Giest account (and add to permissions) it works. However it doesn't let me do it to the route of a drive even if you add Guest permission.

Is it impossible to share the route to LAN users in Vista?

Wahey, worked it out. Under the drive properties / security: Remove "Authenticated Users" and add "Everyone" to the permissions and it works.
