Vista Desktop Shortcut

Wish Id stuck to xp.

Upgraded from XP to Vista Premium.
Enough memory, processor etc to run ok.
Spent ages adusting Vista to meet my needs.

Problem. When you right click on a blank bit of desktop you select NEW............. SHORTCUT. What is supposed to happen next is a dialog pops up for you to fill in. Except no dialog box pops up. What can I do to restore it? That is to say get the dialog box back?

I dont want to use system restore as all my previous hard work on settings etc would be lost. I am sure there must be a registry edit somewhere out there on the Ether. Can anyone help, Microsoft cant.

Cheers and thanks!

Is it sitting in your taskbar?

Nope, it wasnt sitting in the taskbar. I bit the bullet and did a system restore. Lost a lot of work etc but at least I got the make a shortcut dialog box back.

Now my 'burn' button does not work or the eject button on one of my my cd/dvd burners (I have one dvd/rw and one cd/dvd player) . Though it is in system devices and not listed as having any problems. I also went in to what you want your cd drive to do and I selected burn etc still no joy.

Isnt Vista fun??
