Nieces Toshiba laptop, Vista crashed - sister attempted recovery options from the F8 promt none worked.

Then attempted to restore machine from the recovery DVD made at first boot up.

Recovery DVD then installs files to an X: drive and runs cmd.exe from X:\windows\system32 (I assume this is a RAM disk)

Recovery option appears select window English and recovery option then wipes the drives and installs files to V:

Unfortunately one of the files is corrupt and fails CRC(cyclic redundency check)recovery fails at that point

What can I do now to restore vista to this machine?

Got another DVD for same machine also fails but different file corrupt.

So have copied all correct files to V:

So running in cmd prompt how do I complete the recovery process.
Anyone have any idea what recovery runs after it has completed copying files?

Do you know someone with the same version of Vista but who has a full DVD and would be prepared to lend it to you?

The only problem I can foresee is that the key on the laptop may not allow this as it is most likely specific to Toshiba and may not work on a retail or OEM DVD.

Unfortunately do not know anyone with a full Vista DVD

Am trying to relaunch the image files as they will have all the correct drivers and included software.

copied files from two recovery DVDs both corrupt but luckily different files corrupt on each DVD.

Tried to burn boot DVD with Nero but still can't start recovery process

Used isobuster to extract boot image file from original disk still won't boot Code 4?

If the Hdd isn't knackered then can you borrow a Vista disc to reformat and reinstall? Then find the mobo drivers.

You can buy a recovery disk from Toshiba, about £30 I think.
