virus - security master av

Windows xp sp3. pc tools free antivirus and firewall and malwarebytes.

Kids were on free online childrens games. Next time I rebooted security master av had installed itself as my anti virus program. the pc tools antivirus i had will not enable now. I have run a full scan with malwarebytes which found and removed 787 infected items. i then ran ccleaner and removed all it found. on reboot security master is still showing as the anti virus package as is showing as up to date and running. I downloaded a fake antivirus removal tool but that didn't work.

Any ideas how to get rid of it? I don't fancy a full reformat.

Many thanks

Many thanks for the reply.

A full scan with malwarebytes and also with superantispyware found more items and removed them ok. On reboot however the security master av is still showing as running. I can't find where it is installed to uninstall it and I have disabled it from starting through msconfig but it just won't go.

Any other ideas?

have you tried a search for it? or alternatively how about system restore?
