Virus killed my windows7, please help

  Rjbart 15:54 12 Dec 10

I managed to get some virus Friday night and have been taking advice from some people called the 'tech guys' through my insurance.
It's a Dell inspiron laptop.
Here's roughly what's happened.
Blue screen brought up software error codes.
Computer created a partition to hard drive to store files & programs.
System restore wouldn't work.
Reinstalled windows7.
Now have hard drive section 'recovery (C:)' (where i saved reinstalled windows, possibly wrongly). This section is full (830mb free of 14.6g) and contains 8 folders, one of which is windows.
Other section, OS (D:)contains all same folders and several more, including windows. It has 402gb free of 451gb.
Also there is a folder in this section called 'emergency' which seems to be backed up stuff created at time of partitioning? Have saved this onto disks, split over three.
Can i safely delete windows from 'recovery (C:)'? I am being prompted when turning on to choose from 'windows7' or 'windows7' as i have it twice.
Will i be able to restore my stuff from disks? And what generally should i do at this stage?
Thankyou very much, my weekend can only get better!

1. resolve other thread to avoid confusion.

2. before you delete anything check that it will boot into both versions.
if it will then post back into this thread.
