Any ideas out there

I have seen 4 pc's today in different locations each with the same problem

They are all on XP
They are all on broadband both adsl & cable
( different ISPs)
they are all unable to connect to the net although the modems appear to be working

They are getting a Norton Error message about the email scanner not working as the network is not configured correctly.

System restore does not work

Have run AVG, Adaware, Spybot,CW Shredder checked firewalls.

Checked Net settings,restorred defaults,

There has to be a lot more pcs out there with the same problem.

Any ideas anyone

Faulty phone line?, dont think the email scanner in norton woidl stop you connecting to the net,but i am not sure,as they are different ISP and none can connect thats why i said phone line.

Dont think so, they are all in different parts of town, and one is on NTL cable

If there was a general phone fault, then a lot more people would be affected.

It has to be a bug of some sort

Also forgot to mention

System restore does not work on any of the machines

Do they all have Norton on the pc? if so maybe thats the common link maybe uninstalling Norton may do the trick.

Will try. just got to make a few calls to do that

Right, Have taken Norton off 2 machines and no difference at all.

One customer has a network with a router, i pc works fine, 1 pc is showing above symptoms.

Has to be a bug

Going to search around

How do mean when you say 'can't connect'?

Could it be something uploading?

so that you cannot request any pages?

Looks interesting

Will give it a try and report back

Ok tried the Winsox fix on 2 puters with no joy

I have since seen another system with the same problem.

This can't just be happenning to me, there must be other people out there who have come accross the same problem.

Its an epidemic
