You get this message because you are running a number of high memory usage programs........and Windows sets your Page File at 1.5X the amount of RAM you have.

If the total amount of memory needed by your running programs excedes the combined total of your RAM and Virtual Memory Windows will simply increase the amount of virtual memory to suit its needs.

It will also tell you it is doing it......perhaps a hint that you would benefit from more RAM?

The amount of physical memory I have installed is 768Mb. Is this likely to be too little, I thought it was a lot!!

It's a decent amount of memory for XP but your machine will still require virtual memory, set the minimum to 1.5x that.

I have changed it to the minimum as suggested, so see how I get on. Thanks all.
