Virgin Media Broadband - USR9108 Wirless Router

  wrg 11:29 24 Aug 07

I am about to have Virgin Media Broadband installed. I currently have a USR9108 wirless router. Does anyone know if I will be able to use this with with VBM. The spec of the router is that it is for ADSL, ADLS+2 but it does support DSL handshaking (whatever that means).

Thanks for your reply
It is cable. Can you suggest a router?

Seeing that you now think about networking both wired and wireless I would suggest that you start with a basis system

Forget all about super high wireless system 108Mbps–300Mbps transfer speed these can cause major headache for a beginner

So stick with a 54Mbps system, any USB wireless adapter, wireless card bus adapter, laptop with build in wireless will connect with minimum problems

I would suggest this one works well easy to install and well build

There is a new version WRT54GS with speed booster look at this UK site

The same one as on the US site

I would suggest you get this one instead of the WRT54G

Thanks for your repsonse all.
I went for the Netgear WGT624, thought it was a print server as well as on the back of the box it said mini print server, USB server. I dont think it is as it only has ethernet ports. Anyway if your looking for a wireless router only this one was so easy to set up. I was up and running in the space of 10 minutes & who said wireless networking was hard
