Anyway since that post I have purchased a Bush MTT1 turntable. I have attached this directly to my PC via RCA cables and attached via the 3.5mm line in (light blue) socket of my soundcard (SB Live (A400).

I have turned the MM amplifyer switch (which I am presuming is the pre-amp as there appears to be no other option - I stand to be corrected) to the on position.

I am using (trying to use) nero wave editor software. (Windows 98se)

Have also enabled line-in via the volume screen and put the volume bar to the maximum.

However, when the record is played the sound comes perfectly out of the computers speakers but nero does not pick it up thus a blank file is produced.

Where am I going wrong????

Hadn't changed the recording to record from the line in as I had thought
