Viewing/opening messages crashes Outlook 200

I have Outlook 2007 running on a new Dell Dimension 9200 PC with Windows Vista Ultimate. It was all working fine for past two weeks when I closed down my PC a couple of nights ago, and I had not installed any new software or updates
since. I now find I can forward or reply to messages OK, but if I try to just read them them in the reading pane, Outlook immediately says it has stopped working and restarts. It then opens without the reading pane enabled, but if I double-click a message to read it (without the reading pane enabled), it again crashes and restarts.

I spent a whole morning on the phone with Dell Support but they have been unable to fix it. I have tried disabling all Outlook add-ins. I did have Acrobat Pro v8 installed with it's add-ins (not causing any problems up to now) but I uninstalled the Acrobat Plugin for Outlook via Add/Remove programs, but it has made no difference. I have run scanpst.exe - no problems found; have run Office Diagnostics - no problems found. Have tried repairing Office 2007, and lastly completely uninstalled Ofiice 2007, rebooted, and re-installed Office 2007 - but on opening Outlook I still have the same problem.

This is very frustrating, and on searching Google, the Microsoft Knowlegebase, and these forums, I've only found one similar report - but no
solution (The person who submitted the other report of this says he directly
knows of 6 other people around the world who've experienced the same problem, but none have found a fix as yet). By the way, I don't have Exchange or any Symantec products installed.

Are any of you able to update me on this issue or suggest a solution. I'm desparate ;¬(

Thanks

Have you tried the obvious, ie a system restore?

  Guitareth 15:41 22 Jun 07

Yes tried restoring to various points prior to this happening and made no difference.

Have you tried Office Diagnostics under Help, and see if Vista can find your problem?

  rawprawn 16:16 22 Jun 07

Also look in Control Panel/Problem Reports and Solutions.

Thanks for your suggestions, but I did state in my original post taht I have alos run Office Diagnostics and it showed no problems found at all.

I have alos checked in problem Reports and solutions and every time it has crashed it has reported it as "Microsoft Office Outlook - Stopped working" and "Report Sent" However, the details of the report sent offer nothing worthwhile to a lyamen like me. Here's latest example:

Have you clicked on "Check for solutions" (bottom Right.

  Guitareth 18:42 22 Jun 07

Yes. Says no solutions found.

Have you tried googling: mspst32.dll maybe you need to replace this file.

It wouldn't hurt to run a system file scan:

Firstly, just to say I really appreciate you guys continuing to offer help here. This is the ONLY forum I've posted this issue on that has offered ANY ideas or suggestions.

Anyway,SteveWH, I've followed the instruction to run a sytem file sacn. Got as far as 'edit sfcdetails.txt' and this is what I got:

After that, I'm lost/confused! Any further suggestions?

  SteveWH 03:50 24 Jun 07

That's quite a list although there doesn't seem to be anything that major.

Have you downloaded many gadgets for the sidebar does closing the sidebar help?

The others appear to be printer related although I can't see how this would affect the system it might be worth un-installing the printer to see if that is a problem.

I would also go into system configuration and try a clean boot. Failing everything else. I would be thinking of a re-install of Vista. Or a fresh install.

I hope others will see your post and offer their two penneth here.

Maybe do a fesh post with the SFC results.
