video editing

Hi can any one help with this problem when I have tried to edit film off my video camera I get the dreaded blue screen and have to reboot. I can transfer film from my camera to hard disk no problem its just when I try to edit the problem arrises I am using windows xp pro and adobe premier any help would be very kind.

How are you capturing, firewire or usb? Turning off all non-vital b/g progs will help. I use EndItAll2 click here to close all and it leaves vitals on. Also make sure DMA is enabled on drives.

thanks for the reply I am capturing through firewire, also could you explain how to enable the dma on the drives which are a lite-on dvd/cdr and a maxtor hard drive.
