Video capture card

I want to capture recordings on my Sky+ box to the PC's hard drive and then burn them to dvd. It seems the easiest way is to connect the output of the Sky box to the pc and record in real time through a video card.

What sort of specifications should I look out for, ie frames per second etc.

I realise being analogue some quality will be lost but I want to keep it to a minimum.

thanks

If you Google *Record Sky TV to PC* you will see lots of options and also several other PCA Forum threads on the same subject.

Happy hunting.

Hi, after a bit of googling, it seems to me that capturing the video to pc is a pretty laborious affair. I do like the look of the "easy cap" usb adapters which are cheap on ebay as you can just plug them into a laptop, but a good frame rate requires lots of hard drive space and then the subsequent converting and burning to dvd - haven't got the patience to be honest.

I'm now thinking along the lines of just getting a dvd recorder and recording straight onto it.

Yes, definitely the best way to go - I have the same setup.
