Video capture

I need some help. I have a video capture card which I am wanting to use to put footage from a video camera onto my pc. The camera connects up and plays fine on the pc, the only problem is when I record it, it is jumpy, like its only capturing every other frame. I've gone through all the settings etc but still no joy.
Any idea what the problem is?

Can you give us some more info?

What is your PC spec? O/S, memory, hard disk size, what program are you using to record from your camera? etc...

I'm running win xp pro, 368MB RAM, 40gb HDD. The card is a Mercury tv/video capture card. I used the software that came with it to record from the camera.

I suspect that those specs are on the low side for any video work (I have seen people here suggesting that 512mb RAM is needed to run XP, alth' I used to only have 256 and it chugged along quite happily, and equally I have seen people using XP on even less!).

You could try closing down as many background programmes as possible and see if that helps.
