vhs video to cd

I have recently bought a dvd recorder for use with the tv. However this leaves me with a vhs recorder which I don't really want to use. The problem that I have is, that I have several vhs tapes of commercial type which are going to be useless, unless I can transfer them to cd. Is it possible to do this? and if so how,and what, do I need to do it with?
I would be grateful for any sugesstions. Frank.

A video capture card (eg a TV tuner card) and some recording software will do it for you. Hauppauge do some reasonably priced ones.

You simply need a scart link from your VHS to your DVD recorder and away you go . . .

That sounds great, but will it copy the bought videos which will, no doubt, have copy protection.
