i have had problems with xp.
so i reinstalled over the top of existing windows.
now my system can not find "video controller vga compatible"
i have tried everywhere but all that happens is that i get redirected to windows and all windows wants to do is download upgrades but when it does that they always fail.
interesting problem if anybody can help me.

Try reinstalling the driver from Device Manager. Choose the Update Driver option and point it to the C:\WINDOWS\inf folder, see if it finds the drivers.

Have you tried downloading the driver again and pointing Device Manager to that downloaded file?
