A very strange connection problem...

...I've had my network set up & running for a while. Just built a new pc [Using Vista 64bit with lots of memory]. I moved my old pc [XP] to the living room after formatting it. When I used netsetup to try to get the livingroom pc on the network, it would not accept the workgroup name I use, "HOME", so I set it to "HOMENET".

I also have my laptop on the network and this is the problem:

Filesharing is on for all machines.

New pc can see all devices, including wifi printer. laptop [Vista 32 bit] can see new computer and printer. Living room pc cannot see anything because, I think of the workgroup name.

I'm now getting a bit confused and can't work out how to resolve this.

Can anyone help???? Please.

Never mind folks, it's fixed now. All I needed to do was turn off XPs firewall.

Have you installed the LLTD responder on the XP machine ? That will enable Vista to see the XP machine correctly WITH the firewall on .
