Vertical typing in Excel

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to type vertcally in Microsoft Excel.

You can rotate what is in a cell usinf Format/Cell, Alignment tab.

If you mean that you want it to appear like

4

Then:

type in the first character, hold down ALT and press Enter

keep doing this until you've typed the final character, then just press Enter.

Vog Thanks very much, that's exactly what I wanted. Is there any way to reduce the spacing on the second method (using ALT & enter).

Experiment with different fonts.

e.g. 'System' looks better than [email protected] Unicode MS' but 'Ariel' looks better than 'System'. 10 point looks better than 12 point.
