vertical lines on printed photos after ink chged

  BigDunc 19:52 21 May 03

Just changed to new ink (colour and black) cartridges in my HP 940c and am finding that the excellent print quality has gone. The printed photos have vertical lines (approx 0.75mm) which had not been there before, across the whole print, top to bottom and left to right.

Any ideas? The alignment of the heads has been reset OK.

FWIW, the PC is my Toshiba laptop running Win 2000.

there are really only two possibilities...

1. incorrect cartidges
2. head alignment wrong

try the head alignment again.

Are they new cartridges or refills?

Or a third possibility... damaged head on one of the cartridges.

Thanks folks

They are spanking new HP cartridges which cost me £50!!!!

Will take them out and reinsert and re align.

Took our the cartridges, re-inserted them and after re-alighment, problem is sorted.
