I am using win 98, I have been told how to do this (but no joy!).

START / PROGRAMS /ACCESSORIES / SYSTEM TOOLS / SYSTEM INFORMATION .

TOOLS / VERSION CONFLICT MANAGER.
Highlight the files in the VCM and click Restore Selected Files.

But no files in list, button for Restore Selected Files is greyed out.
How do i get rid of this? Alan.

Have i got a problem that no one can answer?

Please help, this is bugging me. The VCM covers two thirds of the desktop (after all the normal icons have appeared).
This never used to happen, it has been appearing for about 7-8 months, so I might have done something (unknowingly) to make this happen. I have to close the window (with the X, at the top) before I can carry on.

OK, now i have done it. Found some advice from a different source, It was: Start / Run, Msconfig

Startup tab

find c:\Windows\vcmui,VCM,VCMui, or similar
and take out the tick and restart.

To my delight it had done the trick !!!!!!!!!!

Alan.
